Welcome to the home page of Lothian and Borders Police Federation, one of eight forces that form the Scottish Police Federation.
Each of Scotland's eight police forces has its own Joint Branch Board, which elects representatives to the national body, the Joint Central Committee. The Lothian and Borders Police Force is the second biggest of the eight forces in Scotland and, as well as policing Scotland's capital, is responsible for law and order in the south east section of Scotland. Lothian and Borders Police has an establishment of approx 2700 federated ranks.
As Police Officers are not permitted to belong to Trades Unions and must not take part in politics the Scottish Police Federation's role is similar to that undertaken throughout the country by Trades Unions, and is explained by it's motto "Welfare and Efficiency".
